What’s brewing in your cauldron(s)?(aka your bucket list and vision boards and active magical workings)

Time to set some deeper intentions – this being the Witchy New Year with Samhain and Dia De Los Meuder behind us…

When I was 5 we moved into a haunted former hospital. Yes. An actual hospital. We lived in only the 2 story section. Upstairs there were 3 “bedrooms “ (one was the nursery – complete with a viewing window) and a bathroom. Downstairs was a living room with a fireplace big enough to walk into, a dining room, pass through area that was likely a dispensary, the kitchen with a huge gas fueled cast iron stove and a couple of catch-all rooms off those that we didn’t use.

There were other whole wings we didn’t use and a basement that was dank, scary and in one section had about 25 folded in half hospital bed frames. There was also evidence that some raccoons had established nests down there prior to us moving in. Dad moved them out. We even had a helipad in our backyard. For 5 years we called that place home – and there’s so many stories about our hospital home I want to tell but just for today I want to talk about the cast iron stove – it had 16 burners.

That was 16 possible pots or pans that could cook all types of delectables at any one time.

Can you imagine the possibilities of brewing 16 different items at once?
Most people would be entirely overwhelmed with half that many. And in fairness, when it was a functioning hospital there were likely a few people who worked together in that kitchen – with one head chef.

Q: Do you know the difference between a cook and a chef? A: Who does the dishes.
Are you the head chef in your life? An equal co-creator with a partner? The powers that be?
How many cauldrons does a witchy witch need?

If you had 16 burners and 16 cauldrons to match what would you be brewing? That’s the question running through my mind today.

I’ve worked in restaurants enough to have a bit of an idea about how a kitchen with 16 burners runs. Not all are cranking up on high – that’s for sure! Some would be simmering on the back making the basis for upcoming soups, some might be slow steeping the soup de jour, or the meat to shred… some might be actively coming together about to be served.

That’s how I imagine manifestations and magical brewing is made.

Some things take awhile, some not so long, and some are complex and some rather simple.

Currently I’ve got some manifesting magic on the back burners simmering, some cauldrons I only need to stir occasionally and some that need more attention. I’ve been rather half-hazard with these cauldrons and fires over my witchy years and I’d like to be more deliberate.

In full disclosure some days it feels more like I’ve pots boiling over with my seasoning crossed and all 16 burners in chaos. Yes. Occasionally I feel like a failing witchy sous chef about to go back to washing dishes unless I step up the way I show up and command my wand waving and energy. (That’s part of my intention for this site)

There’s a lot of details that go into operating a 16 burner stove and maybe my magical practice doesn’t need to start with 16 intentions. And not all my cauldrons need my full attention Some I can set up , enchant and just allow to brew until ready. Some might require periodic stirring and occasional mutterings.

All require planning and that’s the part that can flummox me.

Another trip-me-up part is that I overestimate what I can do. With a side dish of designation hesitancy. I don’t even have full faith in the powers that be to do their part. So yes… there’s that also messing my magical mojo.

I think I’ll put that huge cauldron on the back left burner and label it, “Trust”. I’m not sure it needs anything in there. It just needs to be there to remind me that that’s part of the magical process I want to feel in this coming year. That particular magical something that I can generously ladle into all my creations.

There. That’s a start. I’ll be adding more cauldrons soon and sharing the choosing process… the word I want to focus on is – intention.
